Furniture Feature: Rauch
Rauch is one of the leading bedroom furniture manufacturers in Europe, with a heritage that spans over 125 years. Founded in Germany, the company has continually reinvested into innovation, building one of the most advanced bedroom furniture factories in the world.
Specialising in bespoke flat-pack solutions, Rauch gives customers an impressive choice of styles at accessible price points, making high-quality bedroom furniture available to a wide range of consumers. James Hollas, who has recently stepped into the role of Head of UK, is focused on strengthening partnerships and helping retailers maximise their success with the brand.
How did your company begin?Rauch began as a family business in Germany over a century ago and has since grown into a major European manufacturer. By reinvesting revenue back into its facilities and production technologies, Rauch has been able to scale while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and consistency.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to your younger self?
James’ advice is simple: Always try your hardest and think outside the box. The ability to adapt, innovate, and challenge conventional thinking has been crucial to Rauch’s long-standing success.
Could you share details about any new collections or ranges you’ll be showcasing at the January Furniture Show?At JFS 2026, Rauch will be showcasing a wide range of new products — from the premium ‘Black’ Scale range to the more value-focused Marl range. This spectrum allows retailers to meet the needs of diverse customer segments while maintaining quality and strong design appeal.
Do you have any personal favourites in your latest collection?James’ personal favourite is the Tegio range, which combines a wooden lattice door with coloured glass. The result is a sophisticated, contemporary look that stands out while still feeling timeless — a perfect example of Rauch’s design philosophy.
What are you most looking forward to at the show?Having only been in his role for a few months, James is particularly excited about meeting customers face-to-face. For him, the January Furniture Show is about listening, learning, and understanding retailers’ needs — with the ultimate aim of helping them sell more Rauch furniture.
Have there been any highlights for you over the past year that you’d like to mention? The past year has been one of transformation. Rauch has undergone some necessary manufacturing and structural changes, refining its offer to become even more value-driven and customer-focused. With these changes now complete, the team is excited to present a clearer, stronger proposition to the market.
Where do you see the furniture industry heading? In challenging economic climates, James believes customers gravitate toward more classic, enduring styles. When consumers invest in furniture, they want reassurance that it will last. As a result, fashion-led designs tend to lose traction, while timeless, well-made pieces remain strong.
What’s next for your company?Rauch is focused on strengthening its value offering, with products that allow retailers to maintain competitive pricing — especially when buying into stock.
The company also provides a comprehensive national DHD (delivery, handling and fitting) service, removing logistical complexities for retail partners.
Looking ahead, Rauch aims to introduce more exclusive product lines that help retailers protect their margins, while continuing to deliver reliability, scale and design excellence.
