Tell us about yourself and your brand. How long have you been in business?
Established in 1989 as Inhaus International, we bring more than three decades of expertise and industry leadership to the UK furniture market. Our history includes driving major category shifts—most notably the “leather boom,” which helped transition leather furniture from a luxury niche to a mass-market staple. This legacy of introducing transformative brands makes us the ideal UK distributor for NEST Space.
NEST Space, founded in 1993 by Danish innovator Simon Lichtenberg, is now one of the world’s most efficient and sustainable furniture manufacturers. With a philosophy rooted in Hygge—comfort, connection, and contentment—the brand focuses on natural materials, ergonomic engineering, and a strong commitment to sustainability, including carbon-neutral production, low-emission foams and EU zero-formaldehyde materials.
How did your company begin?
NEST Space began when Simon Lichtenberg brought authentic Nordic design to Shanghai in 1993. What started as an effort to introduce elegant, functional Danish style to a new market evolved into a highly efficient, sustainability-driven manufacturing company. Today, NEST Space blends Scandinavian design heritage with responsible production, resulting in furniture that champions quality, comfort and environmental care.
Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give to your younger self?
I would stress the importance of protecting long-term vision over short-term wins. Prioritise sustainability, material quality and efficient, carbon-neutral manufacturing from the beginning—consumers will increasingly demand it. Embrace digitalisation early, stay connected to your customers, and remember that true luxury will soon be defined not only by aesthetics, but by environmental and social responsibility.
Could you share details about any new collections or ranges you’ll be showcasing at the January Furniture Show?
At JFS, we are unveiling new NEST Space models featuring innovative technology including touch-screen controls, integrated music systems, cooling cup holders and built-in charge points. These features enhance comfort and elevate the user experience to a premium level.
The centrepiece of our showcase will be the NEST Gallery Concept—a fully branded store-within-a-store solution offered to retailers at minimal cost. It includes a complete fit-out, display furniture, props and styling, provided with zero investment risk and supported by product training, marketing materials, a 2-year warranty and a national tech network.
We will also present a selection of core NEST ranges featuring natural materials, ergonomic engineering and multifunctional motion designs that prioritise comfort and durability.
Do you have any personal favourites in your latest collection?
I’m especially drawn to the pieces that best reflect Hygge—sofas and lounge chairs with plush textures, feather-filled cushion tops and high-resilience foam. Those that incorporate motion multi-functions and lumbar support stand out for combining refined design with exceptional ergonomic performance.
What are you most looking forward to at the show?
We’re excited to officially introduce NEST Space to the UK market and connect with retailers who share our commitment to sustainable, design-led comfort. Launching the NEST Gallery Concept at our stand is a major milestone, and we look forward to forming new partnerships across the industry.
Have there been any highlights for you over the past year that you’d like to mention?
A defining moment has been securing our exclusive UK partnership with NEST Space. Bringing a world-class, carbon-neutral manufacturer led by a pioneer of Nordic design to the UK strengthens our mission to offer retailers and consumers exceptional comfort, contemporary design and genuine environmental responsibility.
Where do you see the furniture industry heading?
The future is firmly rooted in sustainability, longevity and wellbeing-focused design. Consumers are demanding transparency, natural materials and furniture that enhances everyday living through ergonomic engineering and multifunctionality.
We’re particularly proud of the NEST Recycled Sofa, made entirely from recycled plastics with components designed for full recyclability—a true example of circular design. Natural materials, warm palettes and tactile textures are resurging, while low-quality, fast furniture is rapidly losing relevance.
What’s next for your company?
Our focus is on launching NEST Space at JFS and rolling out the NEST Gallery Concept across the UK. We aim to build a strong national network of retail partners supported by our Cardiff-based operations team, offering training, logistics and exceptional customer care. Our ambition is to establish NEST Space as the UK’s leading name in sustainable luxury and world-class comfort.
